Abstract

Developmental disabilities’ prevention is one of the most interesting challenges of today’s complex society. It is of paramount importance to act at several levels, actively involving different actors and institutions among those who are professionally in contact with childhood and adolescence.

This is, however, the guideline proposed by UNICEF (2013), which highlight that "a coordinated programme of action in the fields of health, education and social welfare would help to promote the early identification and management of childhood disabilities". In this scenario, the use of the ICF-CY model, as Angelo Lascioli recalls, represents the first step towards the prevention and early interception of SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS.

Family and school represent the first microsystems in which children experience their own existential path and, therefore, the co-construction of an itinerary with the coordination of the University of Palermo aimed at supporting parents and teachers through reflection, discussion and laboratory activities’ implementation, can strongly affect the processes of inclusion and create added value.

The project will involve teachers, parents and specialist staff and aims to the elaboration of a final document that renews the concept of educational co-responsibility in order to improve current educational models.
