Abstract

Trust is the thin thread that weaves human relationships, the silent engine that holds institutions together, the energy that can join or divide a society. In this book, the reader is lead through a path exploring the challenges and contradictions of trust in the contemporary world: its power to create cohesion and its fragility. From sociological theories to law implications, from the dynamics of mistrust to the processes that reinforce or erode it, the book attempts to shed light on the delicate balance between rules and principles, between control and discretionality. Through the case of the Public Procurement Code and a study on the perception of trust in law, the work also offers a reflection on how to rebuild the link between citizens and institutions.
