Una Sicilia ripensata. Modelli idealtipici e storiografia

Abstract

The essay critically retraces the historiographical readings of Sicilian history, contrasting them with the openings and interpretative innovations that have matured since the work of Giuseppe Giarrizzo. In freeing itself from a long-hegemonic cultural matrix, characterized by the constant claim that we are dealing here with a "special, different" historical experience, the essay makes explicit the historiographical redefinition of the history of Sicily through the study of the urban dimension, which is declined in the long period starting from the mid-eighties of the twentieth century, and which contributes to the deprivation of the southern perspective and the marginalization of the interpretation of literary derivation.
