Strengthening the dialogue between the 'University of Palermo and the many "stakeholders" who in various capacities work in the field of sustainability is one of the crucial aspects for the success of the ecological transition, as clearly indicated by the National Ecological Transition Plan, which textually reports among the success factors "consensus, participation and a non-ideological approach to open issues."

This cannot be done without horizontal involvement of the public, private and civil society sectors.

Central focus of CSTE's activities for the revitalization of Sustainability and Ecological Transition is the development of a Sicilian Forum on Sustainability and Ecological Transition in order to initiate a process of dialogue for collaboration among different stakeholders, pertaining to the public, private and civil society sectors, which will foster their participation for the localization of the SDGs in the Mediterranean context.

The Forum aims to establish growing collaboration among stakeholders in the form of collaborative platforms that foster the sharing of ideas, knowledge and resources in order to understand new and diverse perspectives and promote a common vision of the socio-economic, cultural and ecological system.

Collaborative platforms represent:

1. a concrete prerequisite through which a number of local actors can help frame the SDGs and identify the consequent challenges of the Mediterranean context;

2. A tool to define the role each stakeholder can play in localizing the SDGs;

3. an aid for local key players to build and deploy a set of shared strategic resources.

For the launching initiative of the Forum, held on March 30, 2023 at the Aula Magna of the Palazzo Steri 
(EVENT LINK), in the presence of more than 100 participants were involved, in addition to the Magnificent Rector, the Pro-Rector Vicar and the Rector's Council, all the directors of the Departments of the University of Palermo, numerous individuals pertaining to the public and private sectors and civil society.
