Zero Lesson represents the first Network training initiative taken on by RUS member universities. It is a training course on the contents of sustainability and the 2030 Agenda in a "lifelong and lifewide learning" perspective that aims to develop the transdisciplinary educational dimension of university programs in order to contribute to the growth of a culture of sustainable development, with particular reference to the 17 goals proposed by the 2030 Agenda, and to affect the adoption of correct lifestyles by students. The course aims not to increase knowledge but to promote skills for the development of sustainability solutions for the University, using new pedagogical approaches and innovative and engaging initiatives.

The course, in collaboration with the Mentor Project and with the involvement of Green and CSTE doctoral students, aims to provide specific training in Problem Based Learning methodology.

The goals pursued by Lesson Zero together with the Athenaeum Mentor Project are:

• The activation of Sustainability Literacy pathways among male and female students;

• Promoting the culture of sustainability, including through knowledge of the contents of the 2030 Agenda;

• Understanding the complexity of factors involved in the pursuit of sustainable goals, taking an inter- and transdisciplinary perspective;

• The implementation of responsible behavior with respect to the environment, people and the land;

• The development of critical and systems thinking, as well as other cross-cutting and sustainability skills.

In particular, the mentor program aims to try to find tools to improve the quality and effectiveness of lessons and to test new practices on a voluntary basis to be extended later to larger fora. https://www.unipa.it/progetti/progetto-mentore/
