Joining the "Network of University Green Councils" at national level.

The doctoral courses in "Human Rights: Evolution, Protection and Limits", "Legal Pluralisms. Ancient and Current Perspectives", "Systems Dynamics" and "Ecological Transition", in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainability and Ecological Transition and the Master's Degree Course in "Law and Technique of Ecological Transition" of the University of Palermo, are organising the Winter School entitled: Energy Transition and Fundamental Rights.

The Winter School will be dedicated to the theme of the protection of fundamental rights in the context of processes of energy transition.

The interdisciplinary and transversal nature of the scientific debate will be the two essential features of the Winter School. An ideal path will thus be traced which, through the constant recourse to a human rights based approach, will make it possible to test the mutual interference between energy transition and the protection of rights, increasingly understood not as a mere negative limitation of public policies, but as a renewed and unequivocal moment of finalistic relapse of the entire development path.

Topics:

Determining the historical and technical-scientific background of reference

Human rights and energy policies.

The aim of the event is to create synergies between different Italian realities through the comparison of experiences gained in regional and local contexts. The discussion among stakeholders will be led by Prof. Michael Marmot, a distinguished expert on Social Inequalities in Health at a global level, who will show the results achieved at a local level by a network of English cities, the so-called "Marmot Cities". Although the Italian reality is different from the Anglo-Saxon one, their experience will contribute to increase knowledge on strategies, actions/interventions to be implemented at the local level considering the lens of equity.
