La cultura della conservazione in Italia dopo la Carta di Venezia: Salvatore Boscarino e il restauro del castello di Donnafugata a Ragusa

Abstract

The restoration of Donnafugata castle by Salvatore Boscarino (1925-2001) was commissioned in 1987 by the Admin-istration of Ragusa to guarantee the preservation of the vast monumental complex and allow its substantial use. The experience of the restoration of the castle highlights its methodological path, systematically modulated in the phases of architectural survey, graphic representation, identification of deterioration and instability, proposal of interventions and, finally, reuse. Through the study of the archival documentation, it is possible to highlight the real contribution of the Sicilian academic to the discipline of architectural restoration in Italy.
