Roman private law, particularly with regard to the law of obligations and inheritance; sources of Roman law, with particular reference to the Institutes of Gaius and the Compilation of Justinian; Byzantine law, particularly with regard to the teaching of the antecessores.

Member of the Research Unit of Palermo for the PRIN 2008 (Research Pro-ject of Relevant National Interest) on the theme: ‘Revision and integration of Fontes Iuris Romani Antejustiniani (FIRA)’. National Coordinator: Prof. G. Purpura.
2011-2013 Member of the international research project, promoted by the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen, on the theme ‘Origins, forms and Transmissions of the Legal Byzantine Literature’.
