La formazione di mediatori linguistici come dispositivo funzionale per la comunicazione fra migrante e società ospite, la promozione dell’integrazione e la cittadinanza attiva. Case study di un progetto per la formazione in ambito giuridico.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the description of a project to train language mediators in the legal field at the University of Bologna in the years 2011-2020, designed and implemented to meet a need for language services for foreign communities in Bologna and the Emila Romagna Region. It focuses specifically on the legal field, but the project can function as a 'model' for mediation/interpretation courses in other fields as well, for example, the social/health field. The paper provides a territorial and institutional introductory framework regarding foreigners in contact with the legal sphere by emphasizing the importance of language mediation for the protection of rights and community safety based also on national and international laws and treaties.
