Forme dell’ira al femminile nella Maria Stuarda di Schiller. L’interpretazione critica di Luigi Squarzina e Lilla Brignone

Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to investigate the forms of wrath in Schiller’s Mary Stuart (1800), with specific reference to the female characters. In particular, the 1965 staging directed by Luigi Squarzina (1922-2010) will be investigated, starting from the definitions of regia critica and recitazione critica. The interpretation of Lilla Brignone (1913-1984) and her prompt book will be also examined, taking into account the techniques of expression displayed by the actress as well as the points of contact and discontinuity with the tradition Italian theatre.
