Abstract

The essay investigates the role of masters and builders in the Nebrodi area in the sixteenth century, through archival documentation. The mountainous area, located between the poles of Palermo and Messina, reserves some important prerogatives, such as the presence of a town, Ficarra, which becomes a place of training for itinerant workshops of stone carvers.
