Full Professor of Aerostructures, has held and holds courses in Aerospace Materials, Structures and Design. His research activity has been mainly devoted to problems of structural analysis, focusing on the development of original and alternative formulations and modeling for advanced structures. His research topics include: modeling of composite laminates, modeling of homogeneous, laminated or damaged smart structures, variational formulations and meshless methods, fracture mechanics in isotropic, anisotropic and "multiphysics" materials, global-local models for the analysis of aerospace structures, fast solvers for large scale numerical models. He has authored more than 160 papers published in international journals and/or presented at national and international conferences. He coordinates research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education and aerospace industries. He serves as reviewer for several international journals and he is member of international conferences scientific committees.
