Laurea cum laude in Chemical Engineeering, (1981), University of Palermo. Full Professor at the University of Palermo since 2005, his main research activities are related to the areas of thermoplastic polymer blends (rheological behavior degradation and recycling), analysis and modelling of cure process of thermosetting polymers, technology manufacturing of composite material, production and testing of “Green” composites (natural fibers and resins) and hybrid joint (metal to composite adhesive and mechanical joints), analysis of viscoelastic behavior of metal, glass, composite structures and natural materials.

Reviewer for several international ISI journals (e.g. Polymer, European Polymer Journal, Materials characterization, Materials Science & Engineering A, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology)

He is the author or co-author of over 200 papers which >100 published in international reviewed Journals. His papers have been cited more than 100 times and his current H-index is 13 (Scopus, January 2013).

He took part, partly as coordinator, to some EU funded projects and to national projects, funded by Ministry of University, as national coordinator.
