Abstract
Gathering the extraordinary beauty of our Botanical Garden in 110 shots was not an easy task, and yet, it succeeded! Visiting the Garden with awareness means, after all, taking a kind of tour of the world, its landscapes, its cultures. Like the Prince of Pandolfina who reached His Jerusalem, making the journey all the way and never leaving his garden, the visitor can climb the Andes, reach the Australian islands and from there the coasts of the Americas, the Caribbean islands, the Atlantic islands, the African continent, the Arabian deserts, the Himalayan slopes and finally the big China, before returning to the beloved Mediterranean. All this in just over a couple of hours! All in all, this little portfolio will leave you with the memory, and perhaps the nostalgia, of a multifaceted and living world, made up of nature skilfully managed by man. The world of the Botanical Garden, which is a metaphor for the hospitality of the Mediterranean, of Sicily, of Palermo. A mythical place of W. Goethe’s primordial plant, a place where the Genius loci is willing to devour its possessions to nourish its host (alterius nutrit, suos divorat). A place of beauty that is never banal, but profound.
