MARTINA SCOZZARI

Emergenza climatica

Abstract

In a historical context in which extreme climate events and sustainability play a key role in scientific research, it is considered appropriate to focus the project’s attention on the interaction between the climate emergency in the geo-geographic contextMediterranean climate and the compositional process. The architectural project has constantly aimed at the transformation of the natural and adverse environment into a protected space, with the help of invariant actions - here defined - as resistance actions. Given the wide breadth and complexity of the subject, it becomes essential to identify an approach that includes the invariant actions of the project itself, that is, the fundamental elements that define its essence and facilitate its interpretation. These actions can be traced back to two paradigmatic approaches present in the architectural discipline: the tectonic approach and the stereotomic approach. In the Mediterranean regions, the approach to the mere transformation of nature and the protection of man from adverse weather conditions has traditionally been addressed exclusively through the stereotomic approach. In light of these considerations, the proposed intervention aims to identify, through the invariant actions of the project, the possible devices of resistance to the climatic emergency in the Mediterranean context. The ultimate goal is to find a design solution that is adapted to the specific climate context, adopting a tectonic approach rather than being limited to the stereotomic approach.
