Abstract
The essay examines a unique codex preserved in the Library of Lucca, which includes the pilgrimage diary of the Milanese merchant Bernardino Dinali from 1492, titled "Jerosolomitana Peregrinatione". This text represents a fusion between a devotional manual and an odeporic narrative, combining liturgical details and travel descriptions. The work is significant not only for its devotional content but also for its structure, allowing readers to relive the liturgical experience of the pilgrimage. Dinali's diary is compared to the 14th-century Processionale Jerosolymitanum, highlighting the importance of extended prayers in the context of the pilgrimage to Jerusalem. This codex is an important contribution to the understanding of medieval travel literature and 15th-century spirituality.
