The essay examines the travel diaries of Florentine pilgrims during the Middle Ages. Through the analysis of these diaries, the essay explores the motivations, experiences, and challenges faced by pilgrims. Additionally, the essay highlights the social, cultural, and religious roles of pilgrimages, showing how these journeys were not only acts of faith but also opportunities for social interaction and cultural exchange. The historical documentation analyzed provides a detailed view of the devotional practices and hospitality networks that supported pilgrims along their way.
