Abstract
The paper explores the history and culture associated with Matilda of Canossa, a significant Italian noblewoman of the Middle Ages, focusing on historical, artistic, and symbolic aspects. The research includes a detailed analysis of her relationships with the papacy and the empire, and how her influence manifested through the ecclesiastical and civil structures of her time. Symbols associated with Matilda, such as the pomegranate, and their cultural and religious significance are also examined.
