Abstract
A higher penetration of renewable energy resources (RES) in small non-synchronous power systems, leads to potential stability issues and an increase of the system vulnerability. Despite European policies aiming to increase RES in small non-interconnected islands, penetration remains limited due to the low hosting capacity of these systems. This paper reports on some the results obtained during the experimental tests of the BLORIN (BLOckchain for Renewables INtegration) project in which the effects of fast frequency support provided by vehicle-to-grid was assessed in the case of the Italian island of Favignana. The performed tests aim to show the impacts on frequency transient obtained by varying the number of connected and controlled vehicles changes. In addition, the possible interactions with the automatic frequency controls, set at the point of interconnection by the Italian Grid Code CEI 0-16, are addressed.
