La nonviolenza come virtù etica nelle professioni educative: la lezione di don Milani

Abstract

This paper focuses on the ideal of nonviolence of the educational project that Don Lorenzo Milani realized in the school of Barbiana when the italian school, after the fascist dictatorship and after the Second war, was called to rebuild a democratic society and a world of peace. Don Milani shared the non-violent choice with other intellectuals who achieved a peaceful and altruistic lifestyle: Giorgio La Pira, Ernesto Balducci, Aldo Capitini, Danilo Dolci, to mention a few. According to these masters, nonviolence, already practiced by Jesus Christ, received a new attention thanks to the teachings of the oriental master Gandhi, characterizing itself as an educational practice aimed at building a new humanity.
