Abstract
The volume contains a brief overview of some of the lesser known Francophone Literatures. These literary expressions, born, like others, as a consequence of the territorial expansion policy of France, present an extreme variety of situations both on historical and cultural level. Despite the diversification of expressive modalities and problems, they all end up acting as a thaumaturgical instrument, not only to attempt to heal the wounds inflicted by colonization but, above all, to claim the cultural heritage that the West wanted to extinguish. The common denominator of such profoundly different realities seems to be based on the contradictory result of courageous encounters that propose themselves as openness to the world and, together, as a recovery and re-evaluation of the most intimate values of those who are born or have lived on these lands. Unity and complexity, similarities and differences, reflections and fractures show that there are no longer fixed identities but, vice versa, that each identity can be grafted, transformed, transfigured to resist to diasporas, emigrations, re-settlements, and, in brief, to the loss of a past and of a land.
