In this essay we will be concerned with outlining a meta-sociological analysis of the symbolic struggles occurring within the academic field regarding the study of the social construction of hetero-cis-normative reality, identifying analytical-conceptual and methodological developments, and imagining potential queer developments within a discipline that remains the preserve of the ideal academic subject, white, straight, cisgender and middle-class males
