Abstract
The essay offers an overview on the proto-conservative trends put in place after the earthquake that struck Val di Noto, specifically Vizzini, in the area of Calatino, in 1693. The people of Vizzini, that has been rebuilt in situ maintaining the same forma urbis, opted to save the damaged buildings, especially because of memorial and symbolic reasons that proves a targeted recognition of the values of historical matters as the heritage of the community.
