Abstract
The aim of this essay is to analyse the hagiographic comic of Saint Gerard Maiella (1726-1755), a lay brother of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. Through comparison with the information contained in the first bio-hagiographic writings of the saint, it will be possible to study in detail the languages and mechanisms of description and representation of sanctity contained in the comic . Particular attention will be paid to the study of specific graphic-textual devices related to miracles and thaumaturgy. Emphasis will also be placed on the petition presented to Pius XII in the 1950s to proclaim Gérard the universal patron saint of mothers.
