IL “REAL CASINO ALLA FICUZZA” ATTRAVERSO I DISEGNI DI CANTIERE REDATTI DA GIUSEPPE VENANZIO MARVUGLIA

Abstract

In 1803, Sicilian architect Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia was called to complete the Royale Casino at Ficuzza, near Palermo. On that occasion, to keep the sovereign informed about the construction site development, the architect periodically sent interesting drawings to Naples, depicting "un'architettura in corso d'esecuzione offerta come immagine pittorica" (Miranda 1999, 38). These drawings, which are kept in the Naples state archives, are especially interesting for the choice of perspective as the main representation technique.
