The Influence of Xenophon’s Narratives on Plutarch’s Parallel Lives

Abstract

This chapter discusses the influence of Xenophon’ production on Plutarch’s Lives of Artaxerxes, Pelopidas, Alcibiades. Xenophon’s narrative is in Plutarch’s mind, being a model for several Lives, or parts of them. Textual borrowing concerns both factual information and interpretation.
