Abstract
This paper originates from reflections on two Aristotelian works, De mirabilibus auscultationibus and the Athenaion Politeia, and some fragments from Book 10 of Theopompus' Philippica. There is the possibility that the work of Theopompus was used by his contemporary Aristotle. Moreover, the friendship that Aristotle and Theopompus established with the entourage of Philip II throws new light on the relationship between Greeks and Macedonians in the mid-fourth century BC.
