EGIDIA OCCHIPINTI

Athenaeus’ Sixth Book on Greek and Roman Slavery

Abstract

This paper presents a literary study of chapters 84-109 of Athenaeus’ sixth book of the Deipnosophists. Through a broad examination of these chapters it is possible to glimpse Athenaeus’ own view of ancient slavery and his way of reworking his sources.
