Political Conflicts in Chios Between the End of the 5th and the First Half of the 4th Century B.C.

Abstract

In this contribution – clearly not exhaustive of all issues related to Chian history of the period in question – the nature of relationships between Chios, Sparta and Athens during the end of the fifth and the first half of the fourth century B.C. will be traced, to elucidate the incidence of domestic political conflicts on the island, and to this end a critical inquiry of sources and related issues of Chian history of this period will be carried out.
