Abstract

This paper presents a new critical edition of the alliance decree signed between Athens and Thebes in the early 370s. It is accompanied with a historical and epigraphical commentary. Despite the fragmentary state of the text and several critical issues it raises, the palaeographic examination allows us to supplements lines 3, 11, 14, 15-19. The decree shows that Thebes entered the Second Athenian league at some point in 378 BC.
