Abstract
This article examines the complex relationship between female monastic enclosure and ar-chives, focusing on the Capuchin monastery of the Holy Family in Palermo. Limited access to the institution’s documentary collection has largely discouraged in-depth studies of its history. Based on an archival and bibliographic survey, the paper highlights key aspects that can now be studied using the available sources: the monastery’s founding in the 18th century, its transition to enclosure, resistance to the suppression and secularization of ecclesiastical assets, its artistic heritage, and the unique presence of all-female catacombs.
