Abstract

Rodolfo De Mattei, always faithful to his method of study and research, allows us to know a Savonarola free from “ties” of clichés, against all those who have used a myriad of epithets for the Dominican friar over the centuries. In his writings De Mattei highlights the friar’s quality of political thinker and his moral lesson. He also believes that it is necessary to frame the figure of Savonarola in Florence or better in the Italian society of the fifteenth century.
