GIOVANNA MINARDI

Cuentos pigmeos. Antología de la minificción hispanoamericana

Abstract

The literary genre of mini-fiction has been popular for decades more or less throughout the Latin-American continent boasting the names of such great writers as Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortazar, and Augusto Monterroso. Mini-fiction has appropiated structural, canonized rules but its volatile nature hinders a clear definition and collocation within a canonical perspective. Among the characteristic aspects of this genre one can detect the reference to ancient literary forms and the insertion of new -no literary- modalities stemming from the modern mass media.
