Abstract
The paper reviews recent acquisitions on the Contrada Mango Sanctuary in Segesta, the result of new research and the revision of old excavations conducted by Vincenzo Tusa between the 1950s and 1960s, which brought to light a monumental peribolos and the remains of a peripteral Doric temple of the second quarter of the fifth century BC., largely stripped in the late or post-Ancient age. The University of Palermo's research began in 2016 and culminated with the edition of the old excavations in 2023 and the start of new investigations in 2022. It has allowed a first definition of the life phases of the sanctuary and to enucleate some aspects of the ritual practice carried out in the sacred area. New data also emerged from the re-examination of the topographical and monumental context of the sanctuary, concerning in particular the location of the temple within the peribolos, the possible accesses to the sanctuary and the paths outside and inside the temenos.
