Abstract

Which are the mechanisms that determined the elaboration of a colonial consciousness in Italy between the liberal age and the fascist era? How did Italian governments support and legitimize African territorial conquests among public opinion? These are some of the questions on which the analysis proposed in the pages of this volume focuses. The author investigates the pervasive diffusion of colonial themes in Italian society through the lens of the periodical press dedicated to children and youth in the period between unification and the end of the Second World War.
