Projects as a paradigm of the extisting places

Abstract

Architectural projects and descriptive texts of some significant works by G.F. Tuzzolino and A. Margagliotta. The project, then, requires a capacity to read system and relations, considering that even a fragment has the power to reveal the constitutive reasons of a more complex spatial system. The project of the new finds its reasons in the understanding of the system, taking as fundamental operation in the reading of what exists, to then continue what must exist; some interventions in small towns of Sicily describe this attention which proceeds by understanding the spatial meanings and the linguistic values of existing spaces, the interference with current living needs and contemporary design issues, looking for a balance between conservation and transformation, between new and old.
