Sulla introduzione e diffusione del Sechium edule (Jacq.) Sw. in Sicilia.

Abstract

The present research allowed to define the origin of the dialectal name of the Sechium edule (“Cintinara”) but also the exact time of its introduction in Sicily and Naples from where it was then probably spread in the rest of Italy. Information is also provided on the diffusion of species in Italy and on the current situation.
