Abstract
This contribution presents the preliminary work, carried out over the past few months, concerning the reconstructive study of the paintings and mosaics of the Centennial House ", Insula IX-8, in Pompeii. In particular, the work focused on the decorated surfaces of 11 rooms located along the western part of the house, between the large central peristyle and the centenary alley. The different state of conservation of the paintings and mosaics made it necessary to use two different methods of digital intervention: the "virtual restoration" and the "virtual reconstruction". Both aim to reconstruct the initial condition of the appearance of the paintings at the time of their creation and use the tools of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to obtain representations of the artefacts in their environmental context with extreme refinement of detail and consistency of the pictorial lexicon.
