Zu Empedokles D 100 + 178 b L. - M. (= A 66 D.-K.)

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to show that in the Empedocles’ fragment D 100 + 178 b L.-M. (= A 66 D.-K.) one should read φορᾶς instead of φθορᾶς. This reading fits the philosophical system of Empedocles much better and it is also supported by the manuscript tradition of Tzetzes (who transmits the fragment).
