Campanili, città e catastrofi nella Sicilia di età moderna

Abstract

The belltower of the cathedral or that of the mother church in smaller cities, in Sicily as well as in many other contexts of western civilization, was an important point of reference for entire urban communities. Through the study of a selected casuistry and the analysis of the available sources, this contribution focuses on the dynamics that guided the interventions on the belltowers, considered as urban landmarks, after catastrophic events in early modern Sicily.
