Security, integrity, and privacy aspects

Abstract

This chapter addresses the research activities concerning the security and privacy aspects to be integrated in the 5G ecosystem. Specifically, privacy mitigation techniques in new Location-Based Services (LBS) are presented, together with a study of the robustness of different commercial smartphone related to the detection of the presence or the arrival of a user in a certain area, as well as the user identification. Additionally, the chapter develops functions and algorithms to detect attacks over the air interface providing alerts that can be used for mitigation purposes. Finally, we also refer to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) positioning integrity aspects.
