Abstract
Traces of industrial archaeology emerge from the urban fabric of many cities. The ruined state of these abandoned industrial complexes often enhances their evocative power, reminiscent of a laborious past. Places once teeming with life are now confined in former peripheral areas that have become an integral part of historic centers, distinctly shaping their image. This contribution aims to deepen the understanding of an industrial complex known as the former headquarters of the Federation of Agricultural Consortia, built in 1930 in Catania by Francesco Fiducia. Over time, any possible debate regarding this site has been stifled, preventing a discussion aimed at its restoration and enhancement. Speculative and economic issues have overshadowed the cultural interest of this place, manipulating and in some cases diminishing the value of its architectural language to legitimize demolition interventions.
