Abstract
This essay examines the antecedents of contemporary white architecture in the Iberian Peninsula, situating them within the context of the socio-economic and political influences of the first half of the 20th century. During this period, Western Europe experienced significant instability, with the emergence of totalitarian regimes affecting the aesthetics and development of architectural language. White architecture emerged as a shared element among various movements, interpreted as a memory of tradition, a nationalist expression, or participation in the internationalist trend. Contemporary white architecture in the Iberian Peninsula is presented as a significant expression of a specific culture, continuing to explore the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, natural light, the Mediterranean landscape, and essential geometry.
