Abstract
According to certain sources safeguarding the cultural heritage is a moral duty, which entails leaving testimony from our past for future generations; others see it as a necessity for possible public fruition; still others see it is a source of investment, since cultural tourism can contribute to the economic development of the local area. In this climate, the debate regarding safeguard brings us to three easily identifiable concepts concerning the conservation, valorization and fruition of the cultural heritage, these being inter-connected and representing the three characterizing features of every safeguarding operation.
