Short Biography of Gaetano Di Mino
Gaetano Di Mino was born in Palermo on the 7th of September 1966. He received the Master Degree in Civil Engineering in 1992 and the Ph. D in Town
Planning and Environmental Design of Road Infrastructures in 1996.
Since 2002 he is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Palermo.
Since 2007 he is Regular Professor of the course “Management of the transport infrastructures”.
The research activity of Prof. Di Mino is mainly focused on:
the mechanical behaviour of bituminous mixtures (fatigue and thermal cracking, rutting);
the mix-design of porous asphalt;
the models for the assessment of design consistency of highways and motorways;
the FEM modelling of ground borne vibration from railway traffic;
the approach based on the genetic algorithm for the road superstructure’s maintenance and rehabilitation.
Prof. Di Mino is author of about 60 publications. The scientific results have been presented at important national and international congress.
He has received the awards of the best paper for An experimental investigation on the relationship between speed and road geometry II International SIIV Congress, and Modelling and experimental survey on ground borne vibration induced by railway traffic, IV International SIIV Congress.
Nowadays he is Scientific Supervisor of two international projects: All Back to Pave and Sup&R ITN.
