Alberti e il concetto di decorum: da categoria artistica a misura etico-estetica del vivere

Abstract

Following the methodology of the history of aesthetic ideas (Władisław Tatarkiewicz), this essay focuses on the notion of "decorum" in Leon Battista Alberti's works, specifically in "De pictura" and "De re aedificatoria." As this concept is also present in other writings of the humanist, the essay seeks to demonstrate that in Alberti's reflection, "decorum" is not merely an artistic category but an ethical-aesthetic measure of living.
