La costituzione di un Parco rurale delle Madonie : un progetto comunitario per il recupero e la valorizzazione del patrimonio architettonico e paesaggistico di un’area interna della Sicilia occidentale

Abstract

Traveling in the Madonie park is a journey to an enchanted corner of the Mediterranean, a Sic- ily still to be discovered, unusual for its landscape, rich in water and woods, where the mountain reaches 2000 meters above the sea level, an extraordinary territory full of history and identity. Ancient villages were built and industrious communities that have maintained a strong link with the land and its production traditions live here, full-immersed in uncontaminated nature, food cul- ture rich in biodiversity, where even the new generations carry on ancient crafts, deciding to stay. A Sicily that has deep roots in the history of the Mediterranean, boasting an artistic and architectural heritage stratified by the contributions of multiple cultures and peoples. The so-called “Union of Municipalities” of the Madonie tries to enhance the experience of visiting and staying in direct contact with communities, shar- ing a project able to enhance the various types of tourism that can be practiced in the Madonie, investing in local resources and the productive vocations of the area, including through a project for the 115 farms that dot the territory. An amazing project that brings together multiple supply chains and production contexts, where synergy between public and private becomes an opportunity for a good and healthy local economy. This study purposes the design of a “rural Park” for the Madonie mountain inner area, as a com- munity strategy for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the landscape and architectural heritage of this part of Sicily, able to create a net of all the farms and policies of sustainable tourism and cultural richness, following the specific characteristics of each of them and with the creation of more suitable routes and interconnections.
