Designing the UNESCO Buffer Zone.Una Call per la maggior protezione di Villa Adriana

Abstract

The International Design Call for the Great Villa Adriana “Designing the UNESCO Buffer Zone” – proposed last year by the Accademia Adrianea di Achitettura e Archeologia – involved numerous Schools of Architecture from all over Europe, organized in teams with famous architectural practices. The debate on fragile territories, of which the Tivoli area is a paradigm, has produced results of great quality and reliability, demonstrating that the multidisciplinary approach (which ranged from landscape design to museographic details) is currently the most correct one and making clear that the continuity of dialogue on this subject in the field of monumental heritage and landscape can be a useful strategy to move many of our management rigidities. These results was recently gathered in an exhibition at the Polytechnic of Milan and in a book edited by Luca Basso Peressut and Pier Federico Caliari.
