ROSARIA CALDARONE

La fine della modernità e l'eclissi della scrittura

Abstract

The expression “eclipse of writing” implies a form of oblivion that belongs to writing, an oblivion of writing, with all the ambiguity linked to the double meaning of the genitive, subjective and objective, indicating both the oblivion that writing has carried with it since Plato as its distinctive trait, and the oblivion of this same power of oblivion that is called writing. Oblivion, in this second case, of that which interrupts the sense, the totality, the work, producing what M. Blanchot in L’Infinite Entertainment calls desœuvrement, inoperability. “Eclipse of writing” therefore has this double meaning: that is, the abandonment of the instance of abandonment.
