Abstract

If we accept that phenomenology, in its inaugural moment, contains the promise of restoring access to the things themselves, and that this access itself implies a gradualness and inevitably the possibility of setbacks, the perspective that Jean-Luc Marion inaugurates with Étant donné certainly appears to be an advancement because it finds in the gift the paradigm of a phenomenality free from the horizon and the ego.
